Please HELP, Moving to Mexico City

Post Sat Jan 08, 2011 11:26 pm

Hello,

I have decided to move to Mexico City. Currently I live in Toronto, Ontario. I am Canadian Citizen. I am Piping Designer working with AutoCad, Bently and Solid Works. I was wondering if I can get job similar to my profession? If not, what are my options? I do not speak Spanish (but I’ll need to learn it) what are the procedures of me coming there to live? I would like to find work before I go, but from reading previous postings it probably won’t happen. I can also speak Ukrainian and Russian would that help in any way? How is the salary comparing to the lifestyle?

Any tip, suggestion is greatly appreciated
Thank you,

Hi, Tetus:

Your best bet is to learn Spanish before you move. Although there are many multinationals in Mexico, it's not easy to find work there for locals, let alone foreigners. You can also do a job search from here by going to the Monster.ca website and specify international - Mexico under your search. You may get lucky.

Good luck,
Gaby

Tetus,

You dont speak spanish, forget it. You did not mention if you have your FM2 FM3, critical to obtain employment.

Tetus...tough industry to be in to look for work here in Mexico. I think your best bet would be to hook up with a company in Canada or the Us in your field and see if they have operations in Mexico.
