Please help

Hi all,
I live in Adelaide (for 1 year) I originally entered as a holiday working visa, to join my partner (who is australian). We met in Canada 3 years ago and have been living together in Australia for 1 year now. We are recently engaged, and have submitted our application for the temp. res. visa - spouse defacto. I have done absolutely everything by the book - submitted all required information. But am still awaiting my Canadian Crim Record Check Clearance - which i've been told can take anywhere up to 150 days. YIKES!
I also heard it may take 6 weeks too - so does anybody have any experience with these timeframes? Do you know of a way to expedite the process at all.
We are hoping to buy a house soon - and need the clearance back to get approved (only thing awaiting) and then i can be on the mortgage.

Hi! I had to apply for a police check as part of applying for a partner visa to move to Australia and though the website did say 150 days or so, I was told that I should receive the clearance certificate in 2-3 weeks in the mail. I can update you when I do receive it. Don't lose hope yet! I don't really think there ways to expedite it.

I applied here in Toronto for Police clerance certificate and in 3 weeks they sent it by mail. I am not sure how long is going to take to mail it to Australia... Did you tried to call?

It specifically says on the website about criminal record checks that there is NO way to expedite the process, and that it depends on the backlog as to how long it will take. It also says it may take up to 4 months if nothing is discovered, or longer if it is. However, most people I've heard from say it takes much less time in reality, they are simply giving you the worst case scenario. I'm hoping that is true, because I am also waiting on mine! Unfortunately, you pretty much just have to wait.
