I may be receiving a job offer for a tenure-track admin/research position at a US university starting Spring 2008. As far as I can tell, I qualify for a TN visa, and (probably) a EB-2 employer-sponsored green card application. I have an MA and my wife has an MBA. What are the options available to us?

Sure, you can qualify for a TN. You're wife can get TD status but she can't work as a TD. She can study. Of course once she obtains a job offer she can file for a change of status from TD to TN or TD to H-1B when Hs become available again.

Thanks,
I don't thnk she is a clear TN candidate, so I guess she will need to have an employer sponsor her April 1 '08 for a possible H-1B in October? I wonder if H-1Bs will still be in short supply.
As for me, If I wanted to make this a longer-term thing at some point in the future, would it be better to follow TN --> adjustment of status (consular processing), or TN --> H-1B --> adjustment of status?

Hello
If your wife has an MBA, she may qualify as a TN applicant under the Management Consultant category if she has a job offer as such. There may be other options in finance as well.

I wonder if H-1Bs will still be in short supply. Probably, the H-1B system has turned into a lottery.

As for me, If I wanted to make this a longer-term thing at some point in the future, would it be better to follow TN --> adjustment of status (consular processing), Adjustment of status and consular processing are two different things.

or TN --> H-1B --> adjustment of status?

Just stay on the TN and file for consular processing, not adjustment. There is no need for a Canadian TN to transfer to H-1b. And again, even if you file an H-1B it may be rejected because of the virtual lottery system.

What are the steps for the process of getting a green card?
Can apply for green card status while you are on TN visa?

My site explains the process in detail (See green cards tab) including how a TN to green card can be done.
