Possibly doing grad school in Australia...

Post Sun Mar 09, 2008 10:30 pm

Hey guys,

Im currently finishing my 3rd of 4 years at the University of Waterloo. I am looking into the future and have always been interested in doing some grad school in Australia, specifically, the University of the Sunshine Coast.

However, I'm thinking about spending possibly a summer there before I decide to dedicate 3 years of my life to living there. I'm sure I'll love it, but I just want to make sure.

My question: If I apply for a holiday visa and spend the summer there and decide I'd like to stay, can I apply for a student visa directly afterwards without leaving?

Study in OZ

Hey,

I'm on my way to Bond Univeristy and I am in the same boat. You can go over to Oz on a travel work visa and apply for a student visa two months before you start your studies (I think its 97 days or something).Canada and a few other commmonwealth countries are able to apply for visa well in the country. People from Asian coutnies are not. However you should know.once you have applied or a travel/work visa you cannot apply for another unless you're willing to pay big bucks.or unless a company sponsors you. And its hard to get people to sponsoer you, I know someone who just finished their MD and can't find anyone to sponsor him.anyways.good luck.
