Post Study Work Visas

Anyone else been in a similar situation?
I'm Canadian but did my teacher training qualification in the UK (ie PGCE). However I cannot apply for post-study work visa until after my official completion of the course which won't be until July. This makes it very hard to apply for jobs when I have to check off the box that says I do not currently have the right to work in the UK. Even if I add a note explaining the situation I realise most employers will just skip over my application because of the risk/hassle.
Just to add to the confusion- I'm marrying my fiance who is a UK citizen this summer. I would have the right to work after getting married, but again, the timing is bad in terms of applying for jobs.

Anyone been able to secure a job before actually receiving their post-study work visa?
