I am a Canadian dating an American. I plan on moving there on a TN visa. Will this be a problem since they can see I've visited there several times in the past year and a half?

I was in the same situation and just renewed my tn a few months ago. I was never asked about any previous visits or relationships so I don't think you'd have a problem.

Having a boyfriend/girlfriend in the US doesn't qualify as permanent intent as far as I know.

Having a partner in the US is definitely grounds for USCBP or immigration to deny entry, or deny a non-immigrant visa. Happens all the time.

Only if they really think you're going to stay permanently. It's pretty common for people to visit boyfriends on B-2.

As long as you qualify for TN-1 it shouldn't be an issue, I can't see why they would even ask about it. You have to have "bona-fide non-immigrant intent" to get TN-1, so if they ask you where you're going to live, saying "oh, I'm moving in with my boyfriend" is not the wisest move.

Its also pretty common for people to be denied entry if they say they're going to visit their boyfriend/girlfriend. USCBP and USCIS will always suppose that anyone with a partner in the US automatically has stronger ties to the US than they do home country, unless the person can prove otherwise. Which usually means showing proof of domicile in Canada, bills to pay, etc etc etc.

It doesn't usually come up at a TN application, but if it happens to slip out somehow, the TN could be denied because they'd consider the applicant has immigrant intent.

If it doesn't come up though, should be fine.
