PROOF OF FINANCE UK VISA

Post Sat Sep 17, 2011 2:20 pm

PLease help some1 :)
PROOF OF FINANCE I am currently a house wife in my home country and therefore do not have a regular income thus do not have my own bank account. I intend to open one soon. But my husband will be paying for my trip and all my expenses. Will they accept that I have a credit card with funds available in it and a letter from my bank confirm this? Instead of 3 months bank statements? I own assets in my home country and only intend working in the Uk for 7 months of the year so I am no risk to being a burden on the state. But how do I prove this?? Anyone out there with good advice?
My husband is remaining in my home country. I would like to do some training as a carer and work for experience as we may decide to immigrate to the UK in the next 10 years.

What kind of visa are you applying for?

The scenario you describe isn't very common, so you may want to consult with WorldBridge or the HC. I would suspect that they won't accept a credit card as proof of funds because the funds are not technically yours - they belong to the bank - and are therefore not a guaranteed source of income. I can't find any indication on any of the sites suggesting that they would accept this kind of alternate arrangement either.

I am assuming that if you are asking this question that either you and your husband don't have the liquid funds available right now, or that you're not sure if they will accept your statements because your newly opened account won't be three months old.

If you and your husband don't yet have the funds available, maybe it might be an idea to take out a loan at the bank. Then, you'll have the funds you need to live and instead of paying for your expenses, your husband can pay off the loan.

If you're worried about the length of time your account has been open, perhaps your husband could add you to his account.

Unfortunately, a credit card statement is not a proof of funds. If your husband is paying for your trip and expenses in the UK, you can submit his own bank statements and payslips and explain your situation in a cover letter. What kind of visa are you applying for?
