Proof of Meeting (Fiance Visa)

Postby lananmico on Sat Nov 29, 2008 10:15 pm

We have submitted our application for the Fiance Visa and have waited six months thus far to hear a response. They are are now requesting proof of evidence of meeting. I currently do not have a passport but I travel by car back and forth to USA/Canada twice per month. Would I be able to obtain a history of when I've crossed either border from the border?

Do you have photos of the two of you together over the past 2 years? How about travel receipts, like air tickets for shared vacations, hotel receipts, photos of you with each other's family?

Affidavits from family afirming your relationship are also usually helpful.

If your ID was ever entered into the system by CBP, there may be a record, but if you're driving and don't have a passport, there's not many ways they can record your comings and goings.

You WILL definitely need to get yourself a passport before you go for your interview at the consulate. They will have to put your K1 into your passport. NO way around that at all. And you'd better do it quick, as there may still be a backlog, considering the new passport laws to be enacted early next year.

We used photos with a few lines on each describing event, date etc , notarized letters from friends stating they had attended social events with us as a couple etc. I believe we submitted about 30 pages of such evisence (probably overkill but my wife has allways liked to take a lot of pictures).
I renewed my Canadian passportfrom the U.S. recently and they were surprisinly quick- within 6 weeks I believe.

No, you cannot apply for AP at the consulate. You can only apply for AP AFTER you have got to the US and got married and send it with your adjustment of stutus application.

Check out the forums and guides at Visa Journey again for all info regarding K1 visas and steps afterward.

Nope, you're stuck here until you get either your Advance Parole document, or until you get your green card.

Thanks Reba.. when i went to the uscis office to pick up the applications forms about 6 months ago.. the man we originally talked to said that if i wanted to come into canada (across borders) from the usa, then i can apply for an early advanced parole... (i care for my mother, and this is the reason id need it) i cant however remember everything he said, but i do remember him saying it can be done and most likely with a letter ... but was unsure when id send the letter? or whatever in and where.
being stuck here is not an issue... but my mother not having me for certain things has me defenitely worried.
Thanks for your help and any further help/advise would be greatly appreciated.
:O)
