Querétaro: Schools, Health Care and Living [HELP!]

Post Mon Apr 12, 2010 6:46 pm

Hello Canucks!

I have children I am looking to relocate to Querétaro full time, and my kids part-time. I need to know about schools that are comparable to Canadian schools, health care and anything else related to relocating.

I have not learned Spanish yet, but I plan to. I need to know how to find a place to rent, find work possibly teaching English and so-on.

What do I need to know, consider and prepare for?

ANY help is much appreciated.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Lance

Thank you very much Michelle! There are small details that people can't know unless they're in the thick of it, like you are, so this is great to know. I suspected the english would be sketchy and I am sad that it is. I do not have a BA, just lots of work experience. I guess I could do remote internet work for US/Can employers.

Hi Michelle

What do you know about bringing your own car to Mex?
And, do I need to get a visa of some kind? I don't imagine I can just show and rent a place and just stay...??

As for driving to Mex, are there unsafe areas to avoid on the way through the North of Mex into Qro?
Thanks!

I am a little confused by those sites - I don't know the culture or language (yet) and they all use the $ sign. $4500 for a place to rent. Sounds nuts! Is that pesos? I emailed two ads to ask that question. Let's see what they say.

I have almost everything covered now, and I have run into a problem - GUARANTORS. Apparently I need one to sign for an apartment.

How can I have one of those when I am new to the country?

Any ideas for this one?

Thanks.

UPDATE AUGUST 18th 2010

I arrived in Querétaro in July and I now have an Apartment and a job. Considering I have successfully completed my goal, if I can help anyone with advice/knowledge I would be willing.
