Question about going to the UK

Post Sat Jun 10, 2006 1:18 am

I'm in Slovakia, 24 yrs old and my wife is Slovak, 22, and we've been applying for jobs on the Gumtree website to work in the UK, without any luck. So we're thinking of just going there, find accomodation, and look for a job ourself. What do you guys think? is it fairly easy to find a summer job in the UK, doesn't matter where, London or in the country. Also, any type of jobs, cleaning, bar, farm, whatever comes.
Should we go for it or not?

it would be a lot easier to find a job in the UK if you were already living here. Employers are not interested in poeple (unless they have really specialised skills) that are too far (sometimes they need someone really quick and not willing to wait !).
Also , as you are from Slovakia you should read this:
http://www.workingintheuk.gov.uk/workin ... ation.html?

Jobs (with not skill required) are usually quite easy to find (they don't pay much though).London is really expensive so you have to think about that too.usually it is cheaper to live in the North of England.

Hope this helps
