Question: Euro/MasterCard?

A stupid question: can I use the MasterCard issued in Canada when I travel in Europe? The websites of hotels often state that they accept Euro/MasterCard. Is it a special kind with Euro instead of CAD?

Well, I know it is stupid, but I am really confused. They say they accept Visa and Euro/MasterCard, why just add Euro to MasterCard?
