I left the country 15 years ago as kid. I'm 30 years old and I would like to know what would the first thing I would have to when I get there? I am a canadian citizen, but would I have to register myself for a social security number, health care and stuff like that? What kind of paperwork would I have to start first? I know I don't any work permits or anything like that. Basic things that all Canadian citizens are entitled to.

If you don't already have a Social Insurance Number, you'll have to get one, you may even be able to apply for it before you arrive in Canada. You'll need a copy of your passport and/or birth certificate that shows you were born in Canada. Info is somewhere in here http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/en/home.shtml

Once you're in the country, you can apply for provincial health insurance (not before). Depending which province you're moving to will depend on how long it'll take to get. Ontario takes 3 months to get OHIP started, no idea how long in the other provinces. I think all you'll need for that is to prove you are now resident in the province. I'm not sure, but I think you actually have to go to their offices to apply. This may vary by province.

You have to appear in person to get an SIN, but they issue it on the spot unlike in the US.

First form you need to fill out is CBSA Form B4 and put yourself down as a returning resident. And you need to get your passport up-to-date.

After that you move, get your SIN and then get your driver's licence and your healthcare card.
