Question..what do I need to do?

I am an 21 year old born & raised Canadian. It is my full intention to live & work in the US. I recently received a job offer & would like to jump at the opportunity.

Some details
- my field of work is uncommon & I fear that for this reason, it might be really hard to get everything I require (it involves dogs; breeding, showing, training, ext).
- I don't have my GED

I guess my general question is: what do I need to work in the US (take the job offer) & be able to live in the US (after i'm finished working for this person & am able to go out on my own)?

Any advice & suggestions would be much appreciated.

Immigration to US is either done thru family-sponsorship or thru professional employment.

Unless you are already a world-classed dog trainer/breeder, there is little other than going to school and getting a degree, or marrying a US citizen.

Even just to hire you, the employer would have to prove you are unique and exceptional, and no other american can do your job -- proving this costs money even if it were true -- , and then wait several years for you to immigrate.

What would they have to do to prove that no one else could do the job? And what do you mean by waiting several years? Thanks for replying.

Since you would not be eligible for a temporary visa, your employer would have to sponsor you for Green Card before even hiring you, which would require them to make a job search for ANYONE else who could do the work, and only if that search was unsuccessful (ie. only you were the acceptable canditate), then they could sponsor your GC, but that would be in a very low category, so that would take years.

Better for you to go to school, marry a US citizen, or simply focus on a life in canada, like 30 million others do.

You do not qualify for any sort of work status, so your options are severely limited unfortunately.
