Questions. Please help!!

Post Mon Nov 23, 2009 9:56 pm

Hi all.

I have been offered a job as an Office Manager in the US, at a medical clinic. The job requires a bachelor's degree, but not necessarily with an emphasis in business. It also requires a minimum 2 years experience in office management.

My degree is a Bachelor of Art's, and have over 5 years experience.

I am wondering if I'll have any issues with the H1B visa based in this, or does your degree have to be closely related to the field you work in?

Thanks so much for the help!!

H1-b does not require closely connected degree.

Is the process more smooth while I am in canada or is it best to be a visitor to the US changing status?

Do Canadians have to interview for their visa at the US Embassy?

Unless you are going to remain in US for an extended vacation, the I-129 should be filed under the expectaion that you will get the processing done at the border. You will not undergo consular processing, as you are Cdn.

Even going to the POE listed in the I-129 is not mandatory. Simply take the approval notice to any entry point for processing.
