Hi Vanessa,
That's an interesting question. I lived in London for 3 years and had to finally decide if I was going to remain in England or go "home". I ended up back in Canada, but to open a company called Classroom Canada - I now help other Canadians move to London to teach. It's the best of both worlds for me as I spend a few months in England and the rest of the time speaking with teachers across Canada about what it's like to teach/live in England. Ironically enough though, I didn't return to my original province of Ontario. Instead, I moved to Victoria, BC. I couldn't deal with the thought of the Ontario winters again and figured rain would suit me well. Now I live a couple of blocks from the ocean, see the Rocky Mountains all the time and love life in Canada again. I do miss England terribly though, but as I said, I get to return often.
In your case, I'd suggest that you look long & hard at what your career would be when returning to Canada. I find that a lot of my teachers return to Canada only to find that the employment situation is still dire, and that they should have stayed in the
UK when they had the chance. Would you be returning to Canada to be with family and friends? If so, then yes, of course Atlantic Canada would be great. But if you're returning just to be in Canada, then perhaps you should consider moving to a different part of the country where you may have more options. Just an idea.
Cheers
Victoria
