Reasons to leave post-TN: outside the US, or only in Canada?

Is owning property or having a residence/permanent address in Canada a requirement for the TN visa?

I read the official site carefully and it says nothing of that sort, but it clearly says they have to find a reason for the applicant to leave the US later on (a family, a job, property.etc) What if I have property, and a JOB (from which I'll be fired if i don't return), and an entire family, all outside the US but NOT in Canada?

Would that be a problem? Because it's what's worrying me the most.

The main thing about the TN is that it is not dual intent, meaning, you can't have intent to immigrate, and if you have no ties to Canada, ie: no permanent residence, no bank accounts, etc etc, then they will assume you will try to immigrate to the US.

If you have ties elsewhere, I would think that should suffice. Just as long as you're qualified for the TN, have a job offer letter, and no immigrant intent.

No, but you must have "bona-fide non-immigrant intent" which is somewhat vague and largely up to the USCIS people at the POE. Obviously the more you have in Canada (or elsewhere) the stronger case you have.

no, it's not a requirment per USCIS.my lawyer also said so.however, the officers who are trying to be difficult will tell you otherwise as they told me.I told him not it's not a requirement.this was after i was approved at one POE and was crossing thru another POE.the POE where I got my visa did not ask/make any ridiculous questions/comments

How about coming through Canada? Does it heavily affect my application? My lawyer insists I don't come through any other country. I was coming through Paris--->US.

An international POE likely will not have any officers familiar with NAFTA on staff. You are better to cross and get your TN at a Canada/US crossing.

I second. They expect a Canadian will be crossing a Canadian/USA POE. The less surprise you bring the better it is. Immigration and Security is a big deal here. Don't get them to excited, because they will bite!
