Post Tue Feb 24, 2009 7:29 am

Is a bit worrying - my Visa Company just said this to me re. visas to the UK.

One line is not enough to start a thread on this subject. We need some information.

Is recession affecting all visas? Are they denying all, or just a percentage of applications? Are only Tier 1 and 2 getting in? I wanted to apply for a Tier 5 visa around October; is there a time frame on how long this is going to last?

Please, if you got any info, post it. Don't start a thread especially when there was one asking already if recession is going to affect applications. You could have posted that in there.

Thanks. :D

Sorry - I don't know anything about Tier 1, 2 or 5.
I will try and find out more information, but it could be (my useless Visa Company) making excuses.
And sorry for posting in the wrong place.

(please excuse the double bump: new news clause :D)

Ask, and I shall receive: http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/siteco ... oughertest

Looks like they ARE rejecting, or at the very least tightening up the criteria for Tiers 1-3. I'm going to make an assumption, and say that Tier 5 (YMSV), despite not being mentioned, is going to be affected. If they are not allowing/tightening up the requirements/being anal retentive about Tiers 1-3, then odds are they are not going to allow Tier 5 workers through either.

This freaking bites. I wanted to apply in October for the YMSV, but right now, they're not allowing anyone in. I hope that the recession eases by then...

Cant say I am surprised. It is my understanding that unemployment over there is around the 4-5 million mark and rising fast. All of my friends over there are nervous about losing their jobs. I am lucky to be working here and I was going to go at the end of this year, but I would rather wait it out and put more money away than go there only to find nothing and go through my savings.

Does this affect the Spouse visa as well?? I checked the link and it doesn't seem to mention it but I'm just wondering if anyone heard anything about it....
