Recruiters or not?

Post Mon Apr 13, 2009 10:52 am

I am actively looking for work on my own and plan to arrive in London in June if I am not successful at finding work on my own. Can anyone provide me information about working with recruiters? I've been in contact with a few but they obviously push their business and try to get me to register with them.

What are the benefits of working with a recruiter? I am a qualified social worker, so I know there is demand for the position.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Sarah,

Not sure if you've been to London and back already as it is almost June. I think that if you are able to go to London independently and are comfortable with approaching agencies, that this would be your best bet. As a BSW grad myself, if and when I decide to try for a job in the UK, I would definitely go over, stay with family or in a B&B and apply 'from the inside' so to speak. This is much easier, of course, if you have your GSCC registration and ancestry visa / right to abode / dual citizenship already in place.

Good luck!!
