REGULAR UK BANKING ACCOUNT

Hi

I am looking to get a UK Bank account (nothing fancy); just to use for debit while travelling around Europe, and if needed, when employed,to deposit my cheques in.
What type of account should i get and how do i attain one from Canada? I'm leaving in August and would like to have all that set up before i leave.

Can anyone help me?????

this article about a lloyds tsb account might help. it costs £7.50 per month, so it's not cheap (current accounts in the uk - similar to chequing accounts in canada - are normally fee-free if u don't try to spend more than u have in ur account). the advantage is that it removes uncertainty for u.
