I'm currently in the US on a TN visa which expires June 27, 2008 (first year with the visa). I'm planning to go back to the Peace Bridge border crossing in Fort Erie mid June to renew my visa. My questions are:

1. How early can I go back to apply?
2. Has anyone renewed at that border crossing and had any problems? I crossed there with my first TN visa application last year and if you have all the correct information it goes quite smoothly.
3. Any advice for renewing?
4. If I have a B.Sc. degree and I'm working as a "Scientific Technician" does the person I work for need to have one?

Thanks!
Carol

You can apply as early as you like but there is no need to apply until close to the date your expiration date.

I personally have renewed my TN twice at the Peace Bridge and have had no issues at all. The folks in the office were very friendly and polite.

Not sure on the specific credentials request but if it's the same job as your last TN I don't see why you'd have a problem now.

Thanks for the advice.sounds like it shouldn't be too difficult then. It's the same position so I'm not too concerned.

Scientific Technicians are difficult.

The supervisor needs a Bachelors degree.

Make sure you see Sam Tiranno.

I may have seen him last year when I applied and it went quite smoothly. I'm currently working under the visa as a "Scientific Technician" but the fact that I have the B.Sc degree may have helped quite a bit. The whole thing took about 10-15 minutes.

Thanks for the advice!

Is there more than 1 NAFTA officer at the peace bridge border? If so, would the other officers not think it odd if we ask for Sam Tiranno?

Its not odd he's the Free Trade Officer, you're supposed to ask for him.

Why bother going to the border when you can renew your TN via mail.

I hope this helps.
