I am a Canadian Citizen who has been living in Vietnam for over 7 years, and currently have non-residents status in Canada. I will be returning temporarily to Canada in April. I plan on buying a house in Canada and my household goods will be shipped back to Canada and will arrive in Canada some months AFTER I arrive in Canada. My intention is NOT to declare resident status since I will be returning to Asia later in the yeart. Can you please confirm that there will be NO problems with receiving my household belongings when they arrive in Canada. Any information you can provide regarding this would be appreciated. Thanks

There shouldn't be any problem receiving your goods in Canada at all. You may want to consult with a tax consultant however regarding your new property ownership. Even if you plan to return to Asia permanently, if you own property in Canada, there may be tax implications.
