Reporting T3 on US Tax return (1040)

Post Sat Apr 10, 2010 5:41 am

Hi everyone,

This is my first year filing as a Resident of the U.S / Non-resident in Canada. Canada issued me various T3 slips for mutual funds that I hold back at home. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with reporting these slips on the US tax return. Some searching on the web indicates that a t3 can be mapped to a 1099-div. I can see how that's done for the dividend (box 49), but what about other sources reported on the T3 such as Foreign Non-Business Income (box 25); Foreign Non-Business Income Tax Paid (box 34); Other Income (Box 26).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
