returning to Canada as a resident, any rules?

Hello Everyone:

I have been based in the UAE for six years however my family is moving back to Canada soon. As they will be living there and I will be traveling and working out of Doha I was wondering if anyone knew about a rule for returning to Canada based on returning after a 183 days or July 3 to be not considered for taxation for the year 2006. Is this true or another tale?
