Right of Abode for grandchildren

Post Mon Jun 15, 2009 12:07 pm

I have a daughter who would like to go to England to live for a year. Her grandfather was born in England. She was born in 1992. Does she have the right to abode as a grandchild?

No. She would not be considered a UK citizen, unless one of the parents is a UK citizen, generally.

She would qualify for a UK Ancestry Visa however, which would allow her to live in the UK for five years. After that, she could apply for indefinite leave to remain.
