Right to Abode. Please help!

Post Mon Aug 02, 2010 3:53 am

Hi,

I want to try and apply for Right of Abode in the UK this week, and I have a few questions that I can't find the answers to.

1. I only want Right of Abode so I can legally work in the UK for a few months of the year, every year. I don't intend to live there. Is that acceptable? Will they only issue right of abode for the time I plan to be in the country forcing me to re-apply for my next visit?

2. I don't really have evidence of how my trip is to be funded, and the application asks for that. I'm a tattoo artist and I get paid in cash. I rarely have money in my bank account. I could put $3000 in my account, but I wouldn't have a history of a bank account with money in it. I could also get a letter faxed to me from someone who is willing to give me a job and house me while I'm over there. I could also probably get a letter from my current boss here in Canada, stating how much I am paid in cash. I also already have the ticket (and it shows that I'm only going for a month). Would that be enough?

3. I've already received a UK licence to practice tattooing during my last visit to the UK in April. Will this strenghten my case? Or would it make it worse by making it look like I worked illegally when I was there (I didn't work at all. I just thought it would be a good idea to get the licence because I wanted to eventually work there).

4. If my application is rejected, will it show on my passport and make it difficult for me to get into the UK if I want to visit later.

I would really appreciate answers to these questions. Thanks!

You have the right to abode.

That means, you have the RIGHT to abode, you can literally walk up to the border, prove that you are the son/daughter of a British born Citizen and your in.

You don't require the money in the bank account crap.

You have the Ace.

P.S. Right to abode means you have all the same rights as a British Citizen, even having rights to the Public Funding System shall you ever need it.
