I'm a Canadian who has been living in the UK on a Working Holiday Maker visa for the past year. I've still got 11 months left on the visa, however the working part of it is over at the end of August.

My partner and I have been together 2 years, although only the last year of it has been living in the same country. (He is a British citizen)

I know I am unable to renew the WHM visa, and I'm having quite a difficult time searching for another option. Unfortunately I just don't seem to qualify for any of the other visas.

Ancestry - Grandparents and parents are all Canadian.
Work - Don't have the qualifications needed for an employer to sponsor me.
Highly Skilled Migrant - Definitely don't qualify for that one.

I'm not sure what else there is for a Canadian wanting to work in the UK.

If any of you have any advice I'd really love to hear from you!

Thanks

So you have been living together for one year in total?

If have been living together for more than 2 years you could apply for the partners visa. As long as you can show that you have lived together for over 2 years (with bills at your name and his name)you can apply for this.

If you have been living together for one year you could:
1- stay the length of your WHM visa (with your partner supporting you financially) so that you could apply for the partner's visa once you can prove that you have been together for 2 years
2- Study and get a student visa for a year and then apply for the partner's visa
3- Get married and apply for a spouse visa

I can't think of anything else !

Yeah those are about the only options I've been able to come up with as well.

I guess it'll be back to Canada for me Sad

(Not that Canada isn't great, I still do love it, but I'm pretty happy here)

Thanks for the help!
