wow.
I was 14 when I visited with my mom.and we never got hassled at all. I don't remember feeling gawked at anywhere in Europe when I was there in fact. Not even Italy where you hear about the dirty italians.

I find walking down Granville in Vancouver or down that street that bus 98 goes down and connects UBC to Sky train (I'm from victoria - haha) is quite nerve-racking, and have gotten quite a few cat calls from cars on those streets. Creepy.

well i haven't been to the uk but i have been to other parts of europe and i have lived in africa for some time as well. this is what i descovered: canadian men are a lot less bold then the rest in the other countries i have been to. i know overly bold boys can be frustrating especially when you are in a new country and alone. don't let them stop you from having a good time. they're boys. ok so i can't say from experience, but i would say the uk is only a step closer to knowing what it's like being a hot object in africa. you might as well get used to the attention or any future of being outside of canada is ruined. besides, native americans are beautiful.it's about time you get used to it.
btw, europians don't need to meet someone from canada to get here. as pointed out that one comment about europeans needing to meet someone to get out of their country is a retarded comment. if europeans want to come to canada, all they have to do is book a plane ticket, basically.

I think the original poster might be refering to what I have come to think of as the "one night stand" or "British Prancing Pullers". basically, its the men and women (And ladies, the women do it JUST as much as men here!) that are constantly seeking one night stands. the culture shock comes that the one night stand seekers in Canada tend to be more covert & discreet in their approaches. here it's much more open. someone's looking at you, you look back & smile, thats their invitation to move in and put their pickup lines to the test. For the most part (from my experience) in Canada, guys ego's can't stand the rejection of a misinterpretation and so they double check and approach their "prey/victim" cautiously with subtle word play to see if the female is interested or not.

What I've done (which has worked for me everytime) is to thank them for their attention but tell them that I'm far too beautiful and fabulous for the likes of them. Or, if they have no sense of sarcasm or humour, just tell them you were smiling at the guy behind/beside them, they're not your type. sorry! *lol*

Personally, I like the more up front and direct approach men have here, makes me feel appreciated & admired. BUT, dont like the fact that everyone seems to hop in bed with one another after a glass of chardonay and a cheesy chat up line. How's that for conflicting statements? ;) :D
I LOVE KD :-D
