Hey Folks.

I'm about 3 weeks away from the big day. My lawyer is preparing the TN application package and is nearly finished (she's an immigration lawyer).

I'm not sure what POE she's sending me to yet, but I'm going to be applying as a Sci-Tech. I have no degree, and I'm a software engineer, so this was the best route.

What questions should I expect? Has anyone had any experience with one of these tricky TNs? I meet the qualifications of supporting a degree'ed engineer (my boss), and all of that supporting documentation is in place (his degree and transcripts, offer letter, company support letter stating I have the theoretical knowledge of engineering, etc).

Thanks for any advice/input on what I should expect.

Thanks!

I'll be moving to work in the States in August as well. My immigration lawyer is putting me under the Engineer TN category as a Software Engineer even though technically I have no engineering degree (i do have a BSc degree however.) The TN occupation list does not specifically mention Software Engineers as eligible. However, apparently, there was a memo back in 2000 that was sent out by the INS (now Homeland security department), that clarified to immigration officers and stated that Software Engineers are indeed recognized by all NAFTA partners as eligible for TN status. so we no longer have to pretend to be 'Computer System Analysts' Wink

good luck!
