I think you need to be a bit more specific, there are a lot of visas. Investment visa might be the simplest.

The best choice for a Canadians (Citizens, not landed immigrants, since they can't get TNs) is always the TN since its the most efficient. TNs may be self-employed. We have represented several self-employed TN professionals with success at the border. Key points.

1. The applicant needs his or her own Canadian business.
2. The applicant needs a business arrangement (e.g. contract) with a U.S. business.
3. The applicant cannot have a significant ownership interest in the U.S. business.

Most of our self-employed TNs are computer systems analysts and management consultants. Many of them hold multiple TNs with multiple U.S. businesses.

I'm a Canadian about to move to California on a K1 Visa. I'm currently self-employed in Canada, basically based on the internet.

What are the steps involved in being able to continue my online sole-proprietor business once I'm in the states?

Thanks!
Lisa
