Sending furniture to Mexico

Post Sun Oct 02, 2011 11:52 am

Hello,
My wife and I are moving to Mexico in a couple of months and we're trying to decide whether or not it would be cost efficient to send our furniture, electronics, etc with a moving service. While we don't have a whole lot of stuff, some of it is irreplaceable and/or would be too expensive to replace in Mexico. Mind you, we are both Mexican citizens and can get customs clearance to send our stuff. Just wondering if anybody has had any experience with moving companies and costs associated with moving to Mexico. Thank you all for your replies.

Short answer,

Toronto - Mexico, I used Werner Transportation, 53 foot trailer (4 bedroom home, furniture only) $3,900. Not worth it due to bribes and inefficiencies on the Mexican side.
Mexico - Toronto, Allied Services (3 bedroom home, full contents) -$10,000.
