I just got an email saying my settlement visa application had been approved - the documents reached Ottawa on Tuesday morning, and I received a phone call on Wednesday for some minor questions (when I want to be in the UK, etc - they should really put this on the application form), and today it was issued. I am surprised at the turnaround time; I too thought it would take many weeks.

Although I did ask about this on the phone, and apparently the 12 weeks period is more of a theoretical maximum (at least in Canada). The officer told me that most applications take 5 days to process.

Anyhow, a big thank-you to everyone who offered advice and knowledge on this site, and I too am available now to answer questions if anyone has them.

Congrats on getting the Visa.

I was impressed with their turnaround as well. I think maybe they base it on the worst case, and busiest time.

Either way. congrats, now you can cross that off your long list of things to plan =)

Hiya!

Congratulations on getting the visa and so quickly!
May I ask what type of Settlement Visa you were granted?

Also did you send lots of documentation?

I am applying for an Unmarried Partner Visa this week, really getting anxious!
