Shipping stuff to Melbourne

We're moving back to Melbourne in 6 months after living in Toronto for 3 years. We've got quite a bit of stuff we'd like to ship back and I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations on who to use. We have some furniture we were thinking about taking, but mainly it will just be boxes of stuff.

Any advice or recommendations would be good! Everything will be going from Toronto to Melbourne.

Thanks!

I had the same inquiry in a recent thread, as I am also planning a move from Toronto to Melbourne in early 2009.

Been asking some early questions to Brytor International Moving and they have been great so far answering everything I asked, price quote was good compared to others I've gotten and was all inclusive door to door (except for Australia quarantine). (note that this far in advance, any estimate they give you now will not be valid when we're ready to move, as fuel costs etc. will likely change by then).

They've had good reviews from everywhere I've seen and read.

Avoid Phillips Moving, I've seen nothing but bad things about them.

Let me know what else you find out, or if you call Brytor, what you think of them compared to other companies.

We've moved from Canada to Australia twice and we have used Bekins and Dowells. They were both similar in sevice but when I was getting quotes I found that so many would try to rip you off. I was quoted $1500 over from one company and he quicky reduced the price once he found out I'd done it all before.

We found the main problem was that the company in Australia was very slow.

Thanks for the tips. How much stuff were you moving? I'm thinking that we'll moved just boxes first and think about any furniture later.

The first time we sent quite a bit, I can't remember the size dimensions sorry but the second time was this year and we had the very minimum you could send, about 16 boxes/parcels which came to about $1200. We didn't have any furniture, we were better off selling and re purchasing.
