Shipping to Dubai

Post Tue Mar 11, 2008 7:31 pm

Hi There,

Sorry if this has been asked many times previously.

Moving to Dubai soon from Toronto - how would I go about shipping a few boxes (7 small boxes)

Thanks!

7 boxes that just can't be squeezed into your checked baggage? I suppose the amount of space you would have in that regard depends on how many people are moving. What about if you reduce the useless weight of your checked bags (use boxes instead of suitcases, etc?) and make FULL use of your carry on. When I moved over seas my carry on was allowed to be 1 40 lbs back pack -- how do you fill a back pack to 40 lbs -- with books (I was teaching). 7 boxes is such a small amount -- do you have friends visiting sometime soon? Ask them to bring it as their luggage.
I assume you have thought of all these things, but I thought I would just give a reminder.

My experience with having items shipped to the UAE from Canada has not been good. Everything is opened at customs and I have not received items shipped 3 months ago. In fact, my co-workers tell me that they have received gifts a full year after they have been shipped! Sorry, I don't have been news.but it is risky to send things.
