Short Term Contract TN visa, Spouse

Post Fri Sep 30, 2011 12:49 pm

Hi,

I'm (Canadian) on a short Term (4 month) contract in the US and my spouse (Canadian) is going to come down and visit for a week as they are still working in Canada. I have a TN visa and don't really want to go dig up our marriage certificate to apply for a TD visa for them to come visit for a week. Can they just bring proof of canadian residence, employment and return flight and just come under a visitors visa? Would this raise any redflags at US customs? Or would they need to apply for a TD visa which seems like a bit of overkill?

Just don't want to rune a visit by coming unprepared to the border.

Thanks any Help is appreciated.

As long as she qualifies for B2 (which is foreign residence, and no intent to live in US), she can enter on that status (nothing would be issued for this). Her work ID and return ticket should be enough. She should know when your TN is expiring, as further proof that she isn't staying long.

Thanks AGN, That's what we were assuming but it's never a bad idea to double check.
