Paper Work By the Employer

Postby Snowback on Sun Aug 17, 2008 6:04 am

I've been following this thread with interest as I'm in the process of applying for jobs with a TN status. I can't find anywhere what forms the employer has to submit in the US when hiring a Canadian under a TV visa and what costs are involved. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I have checked out this website and will likely end up buying one of the packages so I'm sure I have everything done properly. The issue is that I was just hoping that I wouldn't have to pay to find out the information I asked about on this forum.

The employer doesn't need to "submit" any forms. The employer only needs to write you a letter that covers a bunch of points (some of which are your job title, job duties, salary, length of employment (1 year), etc.)

As long as the customs officer thinks the job description from the letter falls into one of the NAFTA categories and is satisfied your university degree (or college degree + experience) closely matches the same job category, then you'll probably get the TN.

Of course, there may be a few more fine details I haven't covered, but those are the basics.
