Sponsor Spouse & Kids

Postby SoulWaz » Thu Sep 06, 2007 6:15 am

Could anyone help me out here, I got married to US Citizen she has two kids (12 & 10 years) from her previous marriage (She has full custody for both kids) and we are expecting one together, here are my questions:

Q1. What would be short procedure to move her in Canada so kids can go to school and she can legally work in Canada.

Q2. Do I have to adopt her kids prior to sponsor?

NOTE: Yes am Canadian Citizen and Live in Canada.

Regards,
Waz

I'm not sure there is a "short" procedure to get them into Canada, and able to legally work. It may take anywhere from 3 months to over a year.

Here is the Canadian Immigration website page for Sponsoring family http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/ ... /index.asp

No, you would not need to adopt her children first. You will likely need her ex's permission to let her take the children out of the country however, depending on the custody agreement.
