sponsoring my american common law to canada from the usa

My common law is from the usa..born and raised, and Im a canadian citizen in the usa with him, I want to know if anyone has sponsored a spouse from within another country. I have been with him for over a yr in the usa. we have been together since 2005 and have a 4yr old together. We looked at lawyers but they chrge to much for help filling out paperwork. Is it worth it? Has anyone filed without a lawyer and was it easy/hard? whats the process? How long did it take? costs? waiting from time you send it off till the interview and then the time length from interview until able to go to canada. Our daughter is getting the citizenship certificate so i do not need to sponsor her. Any help is much needed.
lawyer plus fees: 2000 for the lawyer..cheapest i saw.. and another 1040 for the paper work not including medical fee and moving. its like 75 for me and 475 and another 4something.him..i believe and thats it for the p[aper work fees...i think. so itll be cheaper to do without but can we.

Just do NOT leave the USA--and that included going to Canada! Prob isnt leaving the USA, thats too easy, problem may be getting back into the USA

Ok, my q was I want to sponsor my commonlaw TO CANADA. I do not want to stay in the usa. We want to start a life together in canada wherw my family is. Has anyone sponsored a spouse to canada and the process with and without a lawyer.
