Spouse visa in UK for Canadians

I am a Canadian and my wife is British. I am planning to apply for a spouse visa/British nationality. Is it a cumbersome process? Does it involve any residency requirement in UK?

from what I've read, it doesn't take long at all for a spouse visa to the UK. It just takes a few weeks.

I am a Canadian currently working in the UK under a company sponsored work permit. My wife has a UK ancestral visa. I am currently investigating my options to transfer my current work permit to a spouse UK ancestral Visa due to the current economic situation in Britain.

Does anyone know:

- is it possible to apply for a UK spouse ancestral visa while living in the UK?
- what is the cost to apply for this type of visa?
- what is the expected processing time after applying for this visa?
