Spouse visa waiting time

Post Thu Oct 16, 2008 2:50 am

Hi

My wife applied for a UK spouse visa from Ottawa. She had her biometric enrolment on the 26th of September and then she sent her passport and documents to the British high commission in Ottawa and we received an email on the 30th of September stating that her passport and documents have arrived.

Since then we haven’t heard anything from them. I would like to know the average time it takes for the application to be processed and whether it is possible for us to contact them to know what’s happening with our application.

Just to note that the application is straight forward and my wife does not have any previous application or refusal of entry to the UK.

Sit tight; I'm told it can take several weeks for these visas.

I would expect it any time now. My wifes application arrived a day before yours in Ottawa and she got an email yesterday saying its been issued and to recieve it in 3 working days by courier (they give you a canada post tracking number too). People dont realise that the documents submitted are then sent to Toronto and dont stay in Ottawa. When she went for her biometrics they told her it could be up to 12 weeks (I think they are being safe and giving worst case scenario). We too didnt hear anything from them by email about the progress of the application which we expected, all you get is an email saying the application has arrived then an email saying its been issued! The fact you havent heard anything is a good sign because if they needed any more info from you they would have asked for it within the first week.Let us know!
