I am in the process of trying to get a
TN Visa for work that I will start in September. Amongst all the other things that need to happen, it appears that having an SSN will be either required, or at least very helpful in sorting some other administrative things out (particularly registering my car in the state that I will be working). (Actually is that even necessary?)
I noticed on the SSA website, there appears to be a path for getting a SSN along with your visa when you apply. But I'm not so sure if this applies to the
TN visa?

Any thoughts or other tips? I suddenly feel a bit jaded after reading some of the comments on this forum regarding TN Visas.
