Student F1 visa questions! thanks in advanced! :D

So like many other people, I want to move to USA for love. My boyfriend got his dream job in San Francisco and there is no way I'd even ask him to move back home yet, not until he gives it a chance. BUT I need to give us a chance and I figure the best thing to do is to transfer schools.

Now, I am totally clueless but according to my research it seems pretty plausible. I am 22 years old and I have a GED and am currently enrolled in a Canadian university in an undeclared bA major program. It is only my first year though, I am wondering if it is possible for community colleges to take me, as that is all I will be able to afford. (oh I am aware you cannot work on a student visa, sigh!)I am looking at anything in the SF area, the websites are somewhat confusing since I am not sure if I am international or mature or what. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I plan on calling them next week but it's still the holidays and I'd love some answers before I Skype date my sweets tomorrow night! Plus it'd be nice going back to MY semester knowing that I don't have to worry too much either.

Also, if anyone has any links to scholarships for this kind of situation, Canadian abroad in USA that would be absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much in advanced, this website is amazing and so glad it exists!
