Student Visa funds requirement

I just have a quick question about the Proof of Funds requirement for obtaining a student visa to France. The French consulate website is really complicated to navigate but from what I gather, I need to have C$1000/month for a year. Is this correct? Anyone out there with experience successfully obtaining a student visa to France?

Please help me out as I'm trying to plan things out. Thanks!

Heya just saw this post now. I'm not 100% sure but that's what many countries require, so that sounds about right. Have you been in touch with the French Embassy in Ottawa at all? They should be able to tell you what the requirement is.
