Study and work visa POSSIBLE ?

Post Fri May 16, 2008 8:22 pm

Hi guys,I have a tricy question, I'm Canadian citizen, working in US in IT sector and thinking to get 1 year Master degree from London. after spending good time on searching the right University, I found that fees for overseas students are more than double as compare to local Brits.
I was thinking to join the program as Part-time and make some £££ to live in such a hi-cost city.
now the question is how can I get the study & work visa at a time (if possible) and how is the part-times jobs market there?
any advice / suggestions wil be greatly appreciated.

You can only work up to 20 hours maximum on a student visa, that is one of the requirement for this type of visa. Part time work is usual for lower paid jobs, usually work in IT are full-time. Could you not work full time (on a work visa) and study part-time? that way you are not restricted in the number of hours you are allowed to work.

Hi all,

I would like to do a program at the University of Manchester. This program lasts 1 month. But I also want to work while I'm there. So I was wondering if I could apply for the youth mobility visa and study.

Also, how easy (or hard) is it to find a job in the uk?

thanks!!
