Swap Stands for 'Student Work Abroad program'.

I did Swap UK not for germany though.

Positives:
Step by step instructions on how to fill out your visa forms.
Great orientation on Arrival.
Free internet if their office is accessable to you.
Help finding a place to live / work.
Continuing help should you have any issues or questions about living/working in your country of choice.

Negatives:
It's alot of money for something you can do yourself.
You have to purchase your plane ticket through Travel cuts which means you may not necessarily be getting the best airfare.

I think it's a great program, and for the peace of mind and all the information / help you will recieve it's worth it.

You can do the whole visa application etc all on your own without assistance, it's not that difficult. But I found even just having a place to go to which had other people in the same situation as you were a great help. Every one was great about helping everyone else get sorted.

Hope that helps.

It sure does help. When you say you must use travel cuts? What exactly is that? Is it just a serivce used to find airlines?
