Hey, I'm new to the boards here. My name is Bryan, I'm 21 living in Toronto right now, and I'm ITCHING! to get out of here.lol. Any ways, Ive been considering migrating to either NZ or OZ for a few years now, but before i pack ever thing up and move, I want to get a taste of what the country is like. So lately I have been considering doing a working holiday in both countries, just to get an idea of what its like there/where i would want to move to more. Ive been looking into the SWAP.ca packages. I have heard pretty good things about their program, but what I am trying to figure out is how long these visa's are valid for. I understand they are valid for 1 year from time of entry into the country, but what I'm trying to figure out is do they expire before activation. Example is, I've heard that Working visas and student visas expire within a year of date of issue if you have not left/gone to the country and activated it. I'm trying to figure out if these would expire in the same way. What i plan on doing is going to Auckland for maybe 2 months, then moving south to Christchurch for the remainder of the year. Once the one year is up in NZ, head over to AUS and spend a year in Sydney. But I just want to clarify that if i apply and get accepted for these visas, they wont expire before i get a chance to use them.

Hopefully that wasn't too confusing. Any ways, any help would be much appreciated.

And before you ask about how I would migrate to the countries, I'm a fully licensed tech in Ontario, so i would be applying to both countries under their skilled migrant visas, and as a bonus for NZ, i would be applying for a skilled migrant visa as well for snow-sports instructor.
