Switching from a TN to a TD visa

Hi,

I'm currently on a TN visa. I'm planning on staying home with my son until we come back to Canada later this year. I want to switch to a TD visa. Is it as straight forward as going to the boarder to switch to a TD visa from a TN? My wife is on a TN visa as well.
From what I've read I believe that it won't be an issue but I wanted to check.

You are able to change your status either through a USCIS service center by filing Form I-539 or by returning to a port of entry or per-flight inspection point. You will need proof of your marital relationship and proof of your spouse's current TN status.

You shouldn't have a problem.
