Tax question

Postby batik06 » Mon Apr 07, 2008 4:53 am

I am a British citizen and will also become a canadian citizen next week. I have been back working in the UK since 2006. I have been paying taxes to the UK govt but not sure if I needed to pay taxes in Ontario for 2007 or in future. I worked in ON for part of 2006 and did submit my tax form for that year. I have a bank a/c and RRSPs but no property. Can anyone advise if i need to notify the ON govt that i am working abroad.

You need to notify the CRA that you are non-resident for tax purposes, if you don't intend on going back to Canada. There is a box on the T1 for that purpose.
