Tax Question

Tax Question

Postby nasr4d » Sun May 31, 2009 5:59 pm

I have landed coming from UAE as an immigrant into Canada 2 years ago and I stayed only 2 weeks and then left back to UAE resumming my residency there, I did not have any ties with Canada since that time or any time before that, now I came back to Canada for settling, my question is: do have to pay tax on the money I earned in UAE?
Regards,

Probably not, if you were an LPR of the US then the answer would be definitely yes, but Canada isn't as tough on people in this situation. Depends on whether you had any other residential ties. If you never applied for a SIN they don't even know you exist in Canada so in that situation I wouldn't worry about it.
