Tax Time Help!

Post Sun Feb 07, 2010 12:47 pm

Hey,

First time poster. I've done a search on the site to try and find a previous thread that helps, but I really can't get my head around it. Any help, links or directions to resources would be appreciated.

I moved to the UK in May 2009. I am here for good. How do my Canadian taxes work? Do I claim taxes for the months in 2009 that I worked in Canada? How? Netfile.gc.ca says you can't claim online if you are a non-resident.

I graduated school in 2008, and the government still owes me credits off my tax for all that tuition. So, I don't want to miss out on anything.

Is there a company, like H&R Block that can help me from London?

Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks,

Dan

The CRA has an excellent guide for Emigrants.
ufile.ca can handle your return, which doesn't seem to complicated.
Net-filing is not crucial. Filing a proper departure return is more important.
This site is a travel site and not best source for these topics:
TN and TD info: http://forums.immigration.com/forumdisp ... -TN-Status
For US/Cdn taxes and SS/CPP:forums.serbinski.com/index.php
US Marriage-based Immigration: visajourney.com
