Taxes

Post Mon Jun 11, 2007 7:49 am

Hey All,
I'm a Canadian working in Colorado for 1 year. I know I will have to file a US and Canadian taxes. I believe there's a tax treaty between the 2 countries where you don't pay duplicate taxes correct? I'm also getting a tax free per diem here in the US. It won't show up on my W2. Will I get taxed on that in Canada?

You will only be taxed in Canada if your Canadian tax bracket is higher than your US tax bracket, or if you have Canadian income.

Any income that does not show up on your tax receipts will only be taxed if you report it as additional income.
